Kim DeCelle, M.Div., LCSW

Do you struggle with difficult memories that keep you from living and thriving?  Do you find yourself stuck in destructive patterns of  thinking and behaving?  Do you struggle with issues of chronic shame or feelings of unworthiness?

I want to provide you with a safe, nonjudgmental space, as well as practical, workable, tailored strategies to help you meet your goals.  I have a particular passion for working with persons recovering from past trauma.  I have specialized training in trauma based therapy (EMDR).  I am currently a PhD candidate in social work, and am engaged in research on trauma and resiliency.

Before coming to North Star, I also worked significantly with those who are LGBTQ+, and am comfortable processing issues of sexual and gender identity.

In addition to being an LCSW, I am also seminary trained (M.Div.) and am comfortable discussing life cycle and existential challenges, including issues of aging, mortality, death and bereavement.  I enjoy discussing issues of spirituality as they intersect with the healing process, and am open to dialogue with those with a diversity of religious/spiritual perspectives (or those who are nonreligious).  In particular, I am a compassionate ear for those who have been harmed in a religious context.

I am a seasoned therapist with a decade of experience providing clinical services, including a long tenure in public sector behavioral health.  I have additional training and practice an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities including play therapy, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based interventions.

I am a practitioner of yoga and mindfulness for over 15 years.  I would be eager to help you develop a meditation practice that complements your schedule and lifestyle.
